- Talk about your day: We might take our daily lives for granted but explaining how you go about your day is a good way to connect with someone. It will also fill up the letter!
- Talk about your favorite hobby: Do you play an instrument? Finishing a knitting project? Enjoy fishing? Share your passions with a senior. Who knows, they might like the same things you do!
- Describe your environment: Whether you are in a city, countryside, or mountainous area, describing your surroundings will help inspire imagination in both the writer and the reader.
- Describe your favorite memory about being abroad: Traveling is an amazing experience. Share your favorite memory about an experience that makes you smile.
- Describe how your life has changed due to pandemic: Everyone has been affected. Include what encourages you day to day and why it encourages you.
- Include your favorite quotes and explain why you like them!
- Include a picture of your pet: Cute animal pictures is a sure-fire way to make someone smile. Have a good dog you would like to talk about? Go for it!
- Share your goals: Are you an undergraduate? Are you about to graduate? Are you already working in your career? We all have goals and they help drive us forward. Something that we need during this time.
- Share what you are learning: No matter what stage of life you are on, learning is a life long pursuit. Write about what it was like learning how to cook, learning a new language, or even what you are learning in class.
- Write about your favorite book.
- Be kind and thoughtful: This is a one-way letter exchange, meaning you will not receive a letter back.
- We encourage the students not to disclose any personal information.

- Embrace Creativity: Just because it’s an electronic letter does not mean you can’t be creative or have fun with it.
